PROFUSE SWEATING IN THE HEAD/NECK

HAVE JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED TYPE 2 AND PUT ON THREE MONTHS DIET ONLY. I AM SUFFERING TERRIBLY WITH PROFUSE SWEATING IN THE HEAD AND NECK - IS THIS NORMAL? WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE ELSE WHO IS HAVING OR HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HOW THEY WERE TREATED FOR IT.

Have you been given a meter to test your levels? I get sweating when my levels are high and it can also be a sign for some that their levels are too low.

Many thanks for your reply. No they have not given me a meter to test levels yet. I had a HbA1c test on Tuesday but have not heard back from GP yet. When diagnosed my levels were high but the sweating came on this morning before I had eaten - having last eaten at 6.30 last night. Have been laying off the sugar since diagnosed three weeks ago. I feel the GP seems to take it all so lightly whereas I feel I am suffering really badly to the point of desperation!

After reading your post, without sounding cheeky?
Could it be menapausal symptoms? As I sweated terribly behing hair head and neck with mine!
Also sweat with high BS and cooking up infections too.
Best to vist your GP and push these symptoms,ask to be taken seriously and for them to be possibly investigated too.
Sometimes you do have to be persistent when it comes to your health with the HCP to get the corrrect and right results.

Thanks Anna for your post. Dont think it can be menopause at my age - 72 - more likely high BS which I hope can be sorted with the result of the recent blood test. You're right about being persistent when it comes to your health - most of the GP's in my group seem to think everything you go to them for is "in your mind" and are reluctant to solve the problem for you. Judging by some of the other posts I have read on this site, this profuse sweating is not uncommon in diabetes. T
 
Hi I too get excessive sweats my whole body starts by becoming clamy then my head and neck are like the shower with sweat dripping from my nose and stinging my eyes. Tested BS thought it was hypo but bs 12.3. Had this disease for 35 years so know most things about it. I am Type 1 taking Humalog, Lantus, Metformin the usual asprin and statins. It does seem to appear when I am nervious or stressed so may be phsycological? I just noticed a lot of us were experiencing this condition - there maybe some contra indication in the drugs mix? Just thought I'd mention it with the drugs I am taking to see if others on Metformin for example have the complaint?
 
Helllo there moanymoan. Interested to see your post which sounds exactly similar to me although I have only just been diagnosed as T2. Started Metformin a week ago and there seemed to be a slight improvement in the sweats but last night all back again and doubled up with stomach cramps. GP did say stomach cramps and gas might be a problem but I wasn't prepared for it being as bad as this. Have to see diabetioc nurse tomorrow so will discuss with her. I guess its the luck of the draw as to what one has to put up with.

Stomach cramps-ask for slow release metformin- got rid of mine.
Sweating- I do this and its nothing to do with diabetes but more to do with the heart medication+ statins that I take. Something that I have learnt to live with but perhaps I shouldn't?

Hello Sparkjack. Thanks for your post and I will enquire about the slow-release Metformin when I see the Diabetic nurse tomorrow. You may be right about the heart med causing the sweats as I have had these for some time now, in fact I was wondering whether they could be hormonal related. Would like to have a hormone balance check but our GPs seem to think that unless you have a broken limb or something growing out of your head that everything you go to them for is "in the mind" so am reluctant to mention anything to them!! Will let you know when I've seen DN tomorrow. THanks again.
 
Excessive sweating is a symptom of both hypos and hyper episodes, I believe. Come to think of it, I seem to sweat most from my head these days, whenever I sweat, and my blood sugar is pretty stable.

My excessive head sweating continues unabated and is driving me insane. Makes me feel uinclean and not want to socialise but just stay indoors and even do my shopping on the net. I was having this problem prior to being officially diagnosed T2 but not nearly so bad. Is this a known symptom of T2?
If so, surely someone can do something about it. I feel sometimes like I am going to spontaneously combust with the heat and water coming from my head. Please help!

Yes sweating with diabetic problems is in fact very common and very awful ...and very real ...
I am a sufferer , since I was misdiagnosed some years ago , it has been awful and continues to be awful after two years of bring diagnosed..
Face arms hands body it just gets worse no, not the menopause ...
It is awful and everyone has my full empathy .....

It is so nice to feel cold ...l love those days ....rare moments to feel,cold ...
The problem does not go away , and so far no,cure that I am aware off....

Anyone know a cure ....internal damage to organs eg nerve endings can I understand result in internal neuropathy which can lead to profuse sweating.....but I don't have the answer , only sharing what I know...

I am waiting for some blood work,to,go,down the endocrine route ...
No not a fashion show. . My make up just runs off ...unless that is the new look ...
