Protein and blood glucose

I do not have diabetes
So I went on a meatfest last night and ate steak until I was about to pop... When I went to bed my Blood Glucose Levels were at 4.3 (about 11PM). However, on getting up this morning my fasting was at 5.5 (high for me) and 2 hours later it was still 5.5 and one hour after breakfast (pot of coconut) it was again 5.5. I am a little surprised at the consistency of the numbers and elevated by about 0.7mmol/L from my norm. I have never seen this sort of flat line before.

Is this the huge amounts of protein being converted?
 
I think it's likely. Protein generally gives me a pretty flat curve, and solid meat more so than ground up meat products.

So I was still digesting it 11 hours later. Had gone back to normal by lunch (4.7)
