I'm a type 2 diabetic and have just been told I have protein in my urine for the second time in 2 months. The first time I was 38 weeks pregnant so I assumed a small amount of protein was normal, but my baby is now 5 weeks old and the protein is still there. My test results say my protein level is <5, my creatine level is 68 with reference of 37.0-91.0 and my GFR is > 60. I've been having some mild pains in my back kidney area, but my doctor says he is not concerned about the protein because all the other numbers would be high if I had kidney problems. Is this true? And are the other numbers ok? I thought GFR was supposed to be 90?
