I read a post earlier which said that too much protein can cause a spike in sugar levels. Is there figure for how much is too much? Or does it vary, person to person?
Not sure of the figure but protein in the absence of carbohydrates converts to glucose by around 50%, its broken down over a longer period than carbs and can effect bg readings 3-5 hours after eating. I don't inject for protein if I have carbs in my meal, if it's mainly protein based then I have to inject unfortunately.
