I have been type 1 for 40+ years & have recently developed pulsatile tinnatus where I constantly hear my own heartbeat. This disturbs my sleep. I have tried listening to apps playing white noise but find these almost as annoying. Any advice gratefully received

I would suggest a trip to the GP. Tinitus can denote infection even if there is no pain. It can also signal hearing loss, be that through infection or just age related. I have had tinnitus since childhood, Radio 4 on a low volume helps me sometimes especially if Melvyn Bragg is on.

I have a friend who is also type 1 ( for 49 years ) and she suffers with this.

She has been prescribed beta blockers recently
I have not spoken to her for about a month so not sure if they have alleviated the problem.

perhaps a visit to your GP to discuss.
