Pump fitting

Having a pump fitted end of month which I am having that day off work for .but I am due to go into work following day , what I would like to know is that going to be ok or should I have booked that day off aswell ?

Difficult one.....I would suggest to play safe that if u can, have the following day off as well, then it will easier to get to grips with using the pump all ok....some dont have any trouble and some do....

I agree with IHS. It's a lot to take in and you want to make sure that you get to know the screens and buttons so better to have the next day off too. On saying that, the quicker you can get into your normal routine the better as you'll need to adjust your basal rates over the first few weeks/months of having the pump to what suits you over a period of 24 hours. All the best.
 
Oh that's a Shame quite fancy a trip to Algeria lol yeah I want to get into normal routine ASAP I will only be working for 4 hours the next day so maybe it will be ok ,see how tired I am the following day lol thanks for help :)

I'm sure you an manage just fine for 4 hours.
I managed to milk a herd of 100 cows sort out 6 horses walk the dog and tend a flock of sheep on the same day and the following day as well without a problem.
All I did was read the pump manual work out what insulin I needed and set it up and off I went. Trainer was a bit peeved I think :angelic:
 
I started on my pump last week along with another girl. She went back to work that afternoon and I went back the following day. Personally, I'd preferred to be back in my normal routine asap. My work is fairly relaxed though; I might have felt differently in another job. In saying that, I feel the sooner the pump is fitting into your normal life, the easier it is for you.

You will be fine :)
Just make sure you have plenty of quick acting carbs just in case of need whilst sorting out your basals.
 
Unless the set up of pumps has changed, most people get started on the same bssal rate to run every hour but if hypos are a common thing that happen overnight, then the hourly basal rate set by dsn might not be correct. If its too high, then hypos can happen. If its too low, then high bg will happen. On first night of my pump, I got up every 2hrs and tested which was just as well as I was going hypo virtually all night until 4am when I had a biscuit plus some lucozade as I needed to get more than 2hrs worth of zzzzzzzzzz. I got up at 8am, did test and was 9mmol so just shows how the body changes its need for insulin..... Following night, I started to decrease the basal ax couldnt have another night like the one before.
