Pump trial next week

Hi,my 13 year old daughter has been type 1 for just over a year now and has been offered the insulin pump trial for a few days,me and dad have to wear it too.What can we expect,obviously it will only have saline in but are they easy to use,comfortable,what are the pros and cons with injecting and pump. :?

Comfort...... well after a few hours you just don't notice the pump. So no worries there.
Easy to use? well the pump is only as good as the user. The basic setting up is fine and plenty of help should be offered for this.
Carb counting is a must and must be accurate. There will be a lot of tweaking to the settings needed to start with and lots of blood testing as well so do be warned.
Do invest in the book pumping insulin by John walsh. Please note this book is going for silly money atm so find a 4th eddition 2nd hand book.
I'm sure your daughter will take to a pump like a duck to water.
Ask to try all different cannulas so the best one for your daughtes needs are chossen.
 
Thanks,i will keep the book in mind,our trial is only for a few days and if Laura likes it we have to wait for funding so fingers crossed. :D
