The ability to reduce basals for exercise, shopping, housework etc makes a vast difference. Even when things aren't going as well as I'd like. I wouldn't go back to MDI.
The pump is as affective as the user. Basically you stick to the rules of pumping do the work involved and think for yourself then yes very effective.
If you think it's an easy get out for control then think again as a lot of hard work involved.
Do your research and decide for yourself if you want the work involved or have the commitment for pumping.

No, that's not right. The NICE guidelines advise a pump for certain criteria and brilliant control is not one of them. Think about it, if you already had brilliant control, why would a cash strapped NHS give you a £2.5K piece of equipment ?
