Pumps out of warranty - what happens to them?

I had a (nice) thought this morning. My pump is out of warranty later this year and I'm due an upgrade. Hoping I'll get the new Medtronic pump. Anyway, I just wandered if there was any chance we get to keep our old pumps as spares? Anyone been allowed to do this I wonder or do they go back to manufactures for re-conditioning and used as loan pumps maybe,
 
Unless your hospital wants it back then you get to keep it. I have my previous pump as a backup. Mind you It didn't belong to the PCT so they weren't having it back anyway.
