Hello all.
Pumps? What's the deal?
I currently inject and have been having a bit of a rough time of late. I recently popped in to see my specialist nurse and to get some advice.
I was considering NEVER getting a pump. I never thought it'd be any more beneficial to me and frankly didn't see what the fuss was about. In my opinion, most people my age (24) considered it a quick fix and I never saw it like that, considering I'm still learning and struggling (somewhat), despite having T1 since age 7.
I've had some thoughts and think that a pump may actually be of some use to me. I start training to be a nurse in September and think that the flexibility of a pump may benefit me in the long run and will certainly help with regards my training and future career. (Put simply, I don't want to be dealing with an arrest and have to excuse myself to check my bG every 5 mins, or to deal with hypos all the time.
I realise it will be some hard work and am more than driven enough to put the effort in.
I just wondered what advice/info some of you may be able to give, considering I know little about pumps.
Any response would be appreciated.
All the best, Scott.
