Wow!
That's a whole heap of starchy carbs there.
Bread at lunch, bread for a snack, ice cream, pasta.....
Is that your normal diet?
Needing water may have meant your BGs were running (unsurprisingly!) high. Do you measure your BG? What was happening with it?
If you could give us some readings we may be able to give you some insight.
You may also want to look at your diet. Your choice, but that diet, taking Glic, is likely to lead to the need for further medication as your Pancreas works harder and harder and probably gets weaker and weaker. Bit like supercharging a knackered engine in a car. Gets a lot faster for a while, but don't last long.

hi Springer... when eating carbs in your diet they need to be quality carbs... wholegrains. I'm assuming from what you mentioned that you are eating white or refined carbs? If so, you will get a spike in your BGLs and then a sudden crash which will make your feel aweful. When incorporating carbs it's a good idea to check they are low GI and this way you don't get the spike and you get more sustained release of energy. Of course portion of carbs is equally important and eating a diet full of carbs only won't be helpful. Try bulking up meals with non starchy vegies and lean proteins, and only have a small portion of carbs with each meal. :)

The statin will not have any effect that you can detect in that time scale.
Gliclazide will drop your BG by stimulating your pancreas to produce more insulin.
I suspect that you've had a high BG for long enough to get acustomed to it. the Gliclazide forced it down, so you felt unwell and ate the carbs to counteract the effect.
If you keep this up, your BG will not improve by much and you'll probably gain weight too.
If you are not already doing so, I suggest you measure your BG . Non-diabetic BG is close to 5 at all times and it's believed that damage to your nerve cells and micro blood vessels begins at 7.8.
It is perfectly possible to re-adapt to NORMAL[non-diabetic] blood glucose. If you keep it there.
If you've been high for a long time, the adaptation may take you a couple of weeks.
As to thirst and frequent weeing, those are signs of high BG.
What dose of Gliclazide are you using?
I'd tend to discuss lowering a high dose of Gliclazide with your healthcare professional and controlling the amount of carb that you eat.
