[QUOTE="donnellysdogs, post: 878060, member: 17713"] Hi Should diabetic patients be warned of diet products containing Aspartane and sweeteners? This is very recently come about for me. I have had health problems with T1 diabetes for 15 years and due to moving so many times I wanted to check my records. It has come to light that in 2003 there is an entry somewhere on the NHS record systems that was not filed correctly and I was not informed..."likely allergy to Aspartane" Since checking every product and stopping all sugar free products my health has 100% improved. I am really concerned, not for me but for all diabetics that are told- yes you can still have coke- but diet coke, yes, you can still have chewing gum- but sugar free gum. Do you think that consideration should be given by professionals who deal with diabetics that further warnings should be given. Diabetics are no longer told to have the specialist diabetic chocolate or "stute" diabetic jam... So why are they still being told to have other "sugar free" products? I myself have been diagnosed in 12 years with pernicious anaemia, fibromyalgia, neuropathy and had so many tests done and all - even the pernicious anaemia has been undiagnosed!!!! I would appreciate any thoughts as to why health professionals do not look at "diet" foods n drinks being a problem and advising patients to avoid these if they get problems such as pains that just get diagnosed as 'fibromyalgia" etc....
