Without going into too much detail the S R Metformin tablets seem to go straight through me and end up in the toilet on a daily basis. I have asked my consultant about this and he said he had never heard of this happening but to still keep taking them anyway. My question is why ? Why carry on taking a tablet that seems to pass through me whole ? Are they doing me any good ? Does this happen to anyone else ? Any advice gratefully received
I was warned by my diabetic nurse when I started on Metformin that it "can affect the motions". For a first few weeks I had the terrible squits but now it's more settled. Sometimes I get a sharp windy sensation in my tummy still and very occasionally pass runny rather than solids (apologies but it's so hard to not be graphic). I haven't noticed a pattern of food so it must be the tablets.
Metformin is known to cause extreme bowel changes in a great many people .I've had to come off it since it sent me running to the loo over 20 times a day even after taking SR for over 6 months .
