Question about Byetta & antibiotics.

I should probably phone the diabetic nurse at the hospital with this but thought I'd try here first and save me the anxiety (I hate phones)

Anyway, I recently started on Byetta and when I went to the hospital for the Byetta "workshop" type thing I was on antibiotics and the nurse said that because of the way Byetta works (keeping food in the stomach for longer) that I'd have to time when I take the antibiotics against when I take the Byetta. Otherwise the antibiotics would sit in my stomach rather than disperse as fast as they're supposed to and not do their job. She suggested just waiting to start the Byetta until I'd finished the course of antibs. I did this last week and started on the Byetta only now to have been prescribed more antibs. I swear, my doctor's answer to everything is antibiotics, I've been on them for over a month now :( after having spent most of the beginning of the year on them.

So basically my question is, how exactly do I time the antibiotics if I've to take them 4 times a day and am taking Byetta twice a day, once at noon and once in the evening? Any help vastly appreciated.

Hi Dinky,

The advice from Eli Lilly (who make Byetta) is that any other medication should be taken at least an hour before your Byetta injection. That way the Byetta will not interfere with the way the other medication works.
