Hi everyone I have a question please my GP is changing me from Humulin kwik to Toujeo. Bit nervous about changing insulin as not very good with hypo as I do panic when low.
Reason for changing is they think I was on the wrong insulin. Due to being very high caused by chest infections from copd. But when I don’t have any infections I do sit at better numbers.
If anyone could alive me about Toujeo I would appreciate it. Thanks you.

whilst adjusting toujeo doses was told can take upto 3 days to stablize levels. its a long acting basal insulin. same time (roughly per day within 3 hours give/take). Have you been given something else as well as that (either tablets / bolus)?

cgm maybe help with panic on lows you can set alarms. if not had trial highly recremmend you take advantage of offer https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/getting-started/sampling.html 15 day alongside http://dexcom.com/en-GB/dexcom-one-plus-sample 10 day. pretty expensive to buy, maybe able if switched to multiple daily injections to presude prescription. if using the trials keep detailed logs of exercise/foods carbs and types. should be able to get 'avoid list' 'ok' and 'works for you'
