Question about moods and Sugar intake

So this morning I had to wake up pretty early for a course I've been attending. I bought a big can of Dandelion and burdock on the way and drank it at about 10:00am, it's now 5:00pm and I feel like I've been hit by a bus, Not sure if its down to high blood sugar though. Can the sugar from that drink really be affecting me this much further along in the day?

Also a Girl who I really enjoy talking to has me riled up for no reason, i'm just horribly irritable and everything she says has me getting more annoyed. Can this be down to high blood sugar? It's not a feeling I'm used too.

I'm type 2 if it helps, taking metformin and my last 3 blood tests came back in a good range (not sure on the numbers atm)

I literally have nobody else to ask this and at times like this i feel scared, the feeling and pain are making me just want
to sit and cry.

Thanks for any help people can give

When I was eating lots of sugary/carby stuff, I'd find by 3pm I'd be completely exhausted and want a "nanna nap". Just before I was diagnosed, I'd go back to bed after eating porridge for breakfast, it would make me so tired. I think feeling ratty and cranky is part of the same syndrome.

I'm so glad I'm off the blood sugar roller coaster :)

Hi,

I note in an earlier post you were given the advice for newly diagnosed. I will put a link for you and suggest you go over it again and see if your meals throughout the day are affecting your blood sugars.

If the can of soda was not the diet variety then it would raise your blood sugars and the stress you encountered would also have an affect.
The best thing you can do is to get into the habit of testing your blood sugars on a regular basis so that you can see if food choices and stress are causing them to rise. Keep a food diary and see if there is a pattern emerging.(You say in a previous post that you have a meter).
Ask all the questions you like so that you can start managing your blood sugars and you will feel a lot better for it. Hope this helps.
