Has anyone had a vaccination against RSV? My GP surgery has texted me with an offer. When I looked up details, it mentions possible side effects (which I often get with vaccines). I keep thinking that if side effects are comparable to those from flu vaccines (one time had to have paramedics), but not as bad as from Covid vaccines, then I would consider it.

Therefore, my question is: Have any of you had this vaccine and, if you did, did you get side-effects?

As we travel a lot both hubby and I paid for (we’re in Canada) and got the vaccine last fall. No issues at all….we are 67

Side effects from vaccines are different in different people.
This sounds like for you, you've had significant side effects from your flu shot, and your covid ones were even worse than needing paramedics, is that right?

For others, like me, covid only gave me a spot slightly sore if I deliberately pressed on it once, I don't think I even had one side effect with the other covid shots.
Flu shot sometimes gives no effect at all, sometimes a bee sting like hot and swollen spot for a few days but nothing more.

So our side effects for any vaccination can't predict how you will react to it.

With a history of side effects bad enough to need paramedics, I'd discuss with your HCP. Did you ever find out what caused you to react so strongly to your flu shot that you needed medical assistance?

No, I never found out. I have allergies to some things in medications that contain E-numbers, such as artificial colours. etc., even in tiny quantities. These things just happen to me.

Here is one example: One time, when I was in my late forties, I became ill with mumps. The GP was mystified; he said that no one caught mumps any more. Except in some rare cases, if a parent whose baby has had an MMR vaccination does not was their hands properly after changing their baby's nappy, then the parent may get mumps from the baby's urine. When I returned to work, I found out that I had caught mumps at the office, from a keyboard of a computer that I shared with several colleagues. One of my colleagues said that her baby had had an MMR vaccine a few days before I became ill with mumps, and she was sorry that she must have come to work without washing her hands properly. Well, the amount of MMR vaccine that I picked up from that keyboard would have been really tiny, but resulted in mumps. None of my other colleagues were affected.
