My question really is, is there really anyone that can truely control what they eat when having a hypo ? If so how ? And, if you can, you have my absolute respect....Best wishes....Mark
Eat 15g carbs then stop! Test again in 10 minutes and then treat accordingly. It's the only way to not over-correct.Hi,
I'm writing this recovering from a low of 2.9 mmol/l and I have so far eaten 1 bag of jelly beans, 1 SiS Energy Bar, 2 Rounds of toast, 2 packets of crisps, more jelly beans and a scotch egg oh and 4 pepperami sticks. On saying that if I had walked into kitchen at 1.30 to find either of them sitting there with 4 jelly babies I may have been quite surprised.

Sorry dude, but I did chuckle when I read this. As I've over eaten on a hypo too. Out comes the cereal, the bread, the sweets. Oh god, it tastes amazing when you're hypoing. And it's in the early hours you go back to bed and wake up in a sweat with bs over 20!!Hi,

Have you not found that this causes another hypo later? I would assume triggering the liver to release glucose without consuming many carbs, only means it will need to replenish it later, and therefore risking another hypo?I'll now have a tsp of peanut butter and maybe a piece of cheese. I've found that this will kick the liver response into releasing some glucose response into my body.
Not really. Once the glucose is in the blood stream it's job done. More often than not I find that this small dose of food will get my bs level. After that I'll be up and about with my daily routine.Have you not found that this causes another hypo later?
