How often do you have hypo's? I am now in pretty good control but still have not got to grips with the effects of exercise and tend to hypo in the afternoon if exercised before breakfast - have tried cutting down my insulin but have not found the right level yet - (I tend to go up rather than down initally after the exercise which confuses thing further). I just want to have an idea of what I can hope for when I have sussed this a bit better!

Thanks

Louise

I think its very personal. I gym late afternoon and also 'tend' to go up after exercise and drop around 6-8 hours later. I won't tell you how I deal with this as it will cause uproar on here! But they start with c and end in s...!

I am on a pump so half hour before and during exercise I can reduce my insulin intake and tend to by 50%, then back to normal afterwards to cover the increase.

Thanks Paul - I may have to apply a small c word around 3pm (It will be our little secret!)

I was just worried that I was still having 2-3 hypos a week even though I am deemed to be in good control. They are only minor (3.9-3.7 ish) so not really suffering much

I have had 2 lows already today (around 4)!!! I went to the gym last night at 5, had good BGs all evening and this morning then stupidly did my normal dose at breakfast instead of reduce it a bit this morning. I need less insulin especially around 12/15 hours after the gym. Not been for 3 weeks so kinda forgot as got out of routine oops!

Takes a while to understand what your body will do, so just carry some tabs, make a note then try different things out next time you go.
