I recently received some junk mail about a weight loss product. Yes I know if it sounds too good to be true it usually isn't any good, but I struggle all the time trying to lose weight and failing that I keep hoping for some miracle 'cure'. This product claims to work very fast without much effort on the slimmers part. It is called SlimCalTm and obviously costs money. I am not advertising it. I just want to know if anyone knows anything about it - is it any good and is it safe for diabetics.

Re: question re weight loss ad

Katybella, welcome to the forum.Have you tried asking your doctor about weight loss pills? There are a couple which you can get on prescription for appetite suppression and weight loss.Your doctor would be able to tell you all about them and their effect with diabetes.I'm afraid these wonderful adverts for weight loss without effort are only going to lose you £££'s not pounds! :) Can you do some exercise during the day? A walk or something like that?

Hi katybella,

Never heard of it, which kind of says it all. If these things ever worked, we'd hear about it soon enough.

How much weight do you want to lose? I lost 4 stones 7 years ago, not by eating fewer calories, but by eating better calories. Don't fall into the trap of eating low-fat branded products whatever you do. These will probably make your situation worse, and the added starches and sugars certainly won't help you diabetes at all.

All the best,

fergus

mm new one on me !!

Fergus u are so right about the so called healthier options!

Low fat usually means we have doubled the sugar content and that is why it tastes awful and pulls out your fillings!

Thanks to you all who replied. I guess I knew in my heart that there wouldn't be any positive answers.
My eating is fairly erractic, I'm afraid. I don't eat meat and I often don't fancy much. I work full time at the moment and I also care for my Dad who has Alzheimers' Disease, so apart from not having much time I'm often tired. I really don't have any time or energy to fit in exercise. However, hope is on the horizon! I finish work at the end of September so I'm planning to fit some exercise into everyday and I should be able to plan my meals better too. Roll on Glamour Girl!!

If a weight-loss pill as good as their blurb says it is...
It'll be all over the front pages it'd be wall-to-wall ads on the telly! And you could see the end of the queue from here....

I live in hope

I was only going to add what silverandebony said.

If a diet-pill worked or indeed any pill that cures hundreds of ailments claimed by the spammers of this world, then it wouldnt need to send spam mailshots or emails, they would be common knowledge.

ie

hair loss
"miracle" cures
weight loss
Impotence
enlargement programmes for men

these are all the type of spams i get in my emails and through the post, if anyone sigle one item actually did what it said on the tin, by golly the word would of spread like wildfire, ala viagra style :D
