Hi Roger,
The odd night (most nights!)I like red wine, basically because it seems to help me with the diabetes (and makes me happy hickup lol), no seriously it does help me and i find that it lowers my resistance or something by a unit or 2, my wife is not the least bit happy with me taking the stuff but i feel it works for me, being part italian,we have allways had a little red wine at night with our meal or when cooking, it dosen't do me any harm and have allways felt that wine has magical properties as long as your not barfing pavement pizza down the pan:D Take it in moderation, but the good thing is that the carbs are not too high.
Go for montepulciano or chianti;)

Alcohol inhibits glucose production by the liver (gluconeogenesis). Interestingly , type 2s have 3 times the normal gluconeogenesis rate compared to non-diabetics. Hence, a glass or 2 of wine is good with big meals.

did you read the bit about the new drugs coming out that will treat ageing diseases such as diabetes on website, via google if you type diabetes cure and you will find it on page 2, as red wine may cure type 2 diabetes the new drug candidates work by activating a protein called sirt1 which influences the ageing process.

on the google search type diabetes cure then scroll down where page nos are go to page 2 then scroll down to item 4 click link regarding telegraph.co.uk it will open up article red wine may cure diabetes in that article theres news on a drug which activates a protein called sirt 1

'The problem with red wine is that earlier animal research suggested that around 1000 glasses would have to be consumed each day to take enough resveratrol to reduce the impact of a high fat diet, increase stamina two fold and significantly extend lifespan.'

OMG 1000 glasses! You wouldn't really care you had diabetes ,would you?:D:D

Knowledge is the key to control
