My first appointment is on Friday (9th October). I'm just after some advice as to what I should ask / essential questions and what to expect please.
I have to take in a urine sample. I am assuming this is to check for sugar and any potential liver damage?
The questions I have so far:
1. To check it's definitely Type 2 (I'm pretty sure it is)
2. How often my blood will be tested and if this will include HbA1c (I'm assuming it will be 3 or 6 months)
3. If I can manage it by diet only
4. If I'm told I need medication, whether I can control by diet only
5. Access to a blood monitor meter and also test strips
6. Availability of the XPERT course. I don't think there's a DESMOND course in my area (I live in Wiltshire, England)
7. Funding for Weight Watchers or Slimming World (as I was told by my GP that I could have up to 3 months free to help me lose weight)
I'm led to believe I'll be weighed and my blood pressure will also be taken at this appointment.
Any other advice is very welcome and much appreciated so I can go fully prepared
