He was taken off his diabetic medication - Glicazide - in mid March. As they said his blood glucose was normal now. Been on Glicazide for years. District nurse came round and used a dipstix on his urine which showed a lot of sugar and trace of blood. GP put him on Trimethoprim (not visited just via telephone). He requested full bloods. Heard nothing more about ? Urine infection but on Friday it was obvious bloods had come back with raised sugar. They then asked me to do a blood glucose profile over weekend. This how shown peaks and troughs from 16 mmol/L to 26.2 mmol/L after breakfast this morning. I handed in results to GP and requested a visit and plan by end of today. I just rang and GP handed it back to Diabetic nurse. Very annoying that no home visit can be given. I am his 25/7 Carer and am feeling very anxious as the high blood glucose is having an adverse effect on my Dad. He just cannot stand up.Why do they not just restart his Glicazide which controlled his diabetes well previously?Is it not routine if a diabetic is told to stop their medication that they should be advised to monitor his blood glucose levels?Very worried about him</blockquote>
