Quinoa

Hi Siobhan,
I don't know the answer to this, but is quinoa good fot the diabetic diet? We have a supply in our cupboard which we bought pre-diagnosis.

Provided youdon't eat loads of it, treat it just like any other grain from the diet point of view.

It is very good for you, it is high in protein, iron and calcium and has a lo GI and is very versitile. You can eat it hot or cold, sweet or savoury. 100g of dry quinoa has about 350 calories. And like cous cous if you can add different flavours to eat, like instead of adding salt when you cook it add vegetable stock, or chicken stock.
