Anything can be eaten providing the daily calorie intake is less than 600 or 800 cals per day so far as I know.
The original protocol was with meal replacement shakes 3 tines a day with some veg in the evening but so far as I know Prof Taylor has relaxed this to being a max calorie intake however you choose to do it. There are no hard and fast rules.
