Raised glucose level after operation

Hello Friends
I was diagnosed with type two 6 months ago and was started off on 500g Metformin twice a day, but through lifestyle and diet changes my dose was reduced to one a day.
I had three monthly blood test later and my GP advised me to stop the tablets and continue with my diet and exercise plan.
I had been able to maintain my levels from 4.2 to 5.9 until I had hernia surgery a week ago and my glucose levels have risen to 7 and 7.4 despite resuming metformin.
Is this okay? or should I worry and see my GP?

The levels are high but not too worrying. From experience the stress of an operation tends to raise BG levels for a while (post op can be quite dramatic). Also metformin takes a week or two to "kick in" and have its full effect. It might be worth dropping a call to your GP before the weekend if you are worried.
