When I was first diagnosed with type 2 earlier in 2016 my HBA1C was 10.6. I managed to get this down to 6.9 through diet and Metformin over the next 4 months. I have made no changes to my diet or prescription drugs but suddenly over the last few weeks my glucose readings while fasting have jumped up to 10.2 - 10.5 every morning. I can't get a GP appointment until Tuesday night. Any ideas what might be causing this anyone?

There are so many factors that can affect blood sugar readings such as illness, stress or even a change in the weather.

Raised fbgs could also be due to 'Dawn Phenomenon' where your liver dumps stored glucose into your bloodstream because you don't have enough. This is usually in the morning as you wake as you haven't eaten for hours and to get you going for the day.
It's quite normal and non-diabetics get it too.
