Random Freestyle Libra results

Hi all! I'm new to the Libra having fitted my second sensor earlier this week and unfortunately seem to be getting random results. I thought it might just be that the sensor needed to settle down as I've read a few other posts saying this can take a couple of days. This is now day 5.

The first sensor showed my bg to practically flatline during the night (apart from one early blip where I think I lay on the sensor!), however this one shows me to hypo (I've apparently had 4 this week).

I woke at 2.30am one morning and decided to scan and got a reading of 3.4. This was entirely inconsistent with how I felt so tested with my codefree and was low 5's.

I've had several similar discrepancies. This morning before breakfast 6.3 with the Libra and 5.0 with codefree. The codefree is closer to how I felt and more my usual level.

Has anyone else experienced this and were Abbott helpful in sorting? I've emailed them, but no response yet.

Many thanks

Have you downloaded the text log and looked at your 15 minute readings during the night?
You also need to bear in mind the Libre is a good 10 minutes or more behind the finger prick, so what you do in that 10 minutes may affect matters..
I also believe that Abbot will only listen to inaccuracy complaints if you use their Freestyle strips. They won't accept your readings from any other strip/meter.

I haven't downloaded the text log, as I didn't know you could to be honest. I'll have a look into that thanks.

Even allowing for the 10 or so minutes delay, the results are inconsistent. The first sensor was far more consistent, particularly when compared with my baseline glucose level. This one is at least 1mmol/l out, which would be fine if it was always high for instance so I could just adjust the number in my mind. Unfortunately it isn't. It varies greatly from too high to too low.

I had a feeling Abbot would only consider inaccuracy complaints if using their Freestyle strips for comparison. Although I have compared the Libra against my codefree and Glucolab monitors both of which give similar reading to each other.

Thanks for your response, it's much appreciated.

I find the text log fascinating. I copy it over to an Excel sheet so I can fiddle with it, add notes etc. If you have been logging when you eat on your meter this will show as a numerical digit (I think the number 1 but might be wrong).

I understand some sensors are erratic and some have been replaced due to inaccuracy, but only if you use Abbots own strips in the reader itself. My first 2 read very low but consistent. My next one was also consistent and more or less bang on with my Codefree readings. I think this may be because I attached it in a different spot on the upper/under arm. Previously it was a bit more to one side, but that is just a guess on my part. Next time I order a sensor I will also order some strips.

@Kaz261, I'd suggest you call up Abbott and discuss it with them. They will send you some strips to test against and are then likely to replace the sensor as long as it is >15% out.

Ok, will do. Thanks for the advice.

Kaz - I have only once tried to get support from Abbott by email, when I was overseas, and it was an unmitigated disaster. Complete email silence. In the end, I ended up, by much searching, find someone specific to email. It was eventually resolved, but was mightily frustrating.

Unfortunately, Abbott's support desk isn't open over the weekend, so give them a call on Monday morning. I know they are tightening up on checks against their own strips, but I wouldn't let that deter me from calling them.

Good luck with it all.

I most certainly will. Thank you!
