Hello everyone,

I'm part way through a carb counting course (REACT) and trying to figure out what my ratios are. I've discovered I need slightly more insulin on the days I work as I'm sitting at a desk rather than chasing round after a 2 year old. I've also been having problems with my blood sugar really spiking up to and during my period. I'm struggling to adjust my insulin accordingly and it's getting really confusing with all of these variations! Plus I'm not sure if it's my Lantus or Novorapid I should be increasing at these times of the month?

A confused Jessie :)

Hi
There is nothing to get confused. Sugars are so much influenced by hormonal changes during periods. If ur fasting levels are higher increase the basal little with close monitoring. If u find that ur postmeal readings are much higher, increase the short acting. Be careful with ur adjustments & change back to normal ratios after periods. Its like a double roller coaster ride, but v can manage. :):)
Warmest regards,
debbie

Thank you Debbie, I'm waking up in the 7s which is high for me so I will try increasing my Lantus a little and see how I get on. I guess it's just about being organised and keeping on top of things, I'm not very good at that!

Jessie. x
