Reactive Hypoglycaemia

Awww shucks @Linagirl that is a wonderful thing to say, but you know that all we do is make suggestions - and then you do all the hard work.

- and deserve congratulating for everything you have achieved!

One question @nosher did you watch your fat intake whilst losing your weight or did you guesstimate things. I'm hoping my weight will come down steadily but it's slow going xx

Thanks Brun I'm just hoping my body behaves itself

Not really, I changed my fats to natural animal fats and not the polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats that is supposed to be healthy!
Full fat yoghurt, at least once a day, cos I don't do dairy!
Eat the fat off the meat etc. But I don't count carbs, calories, fat or weigh my food.
I really haven't got time for that.
It is a slow process and its not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.
I've slowed down a lot in the past year but still going down!

Sounds very similar but I'm wondering about cutting the cheese back and milk and sticking to the coconut milk and Greek yoghurt. Have been having s few stuffy heads which is usually my sinuses reacting to dairy. My mum seems to be horrified that I have to 'live like this' but I am loving eating a new way and made a fab curry for tea which I really enjoyed. If I have to go to a restaurant steak salad does me fine! Who needs carbs? I also now find the chocolate aisle makes me go yuck!!! Never ever believed I would say that x

It's still new for you, but watch out for the salad dressing, that appear when you order salad in a pub or restaurant! Some have it prepared beforehand!
Tell your family you're allergic to the baddie carbs!

We went for dinner, out and I had meatballs and salad.
There was a mountain of cakes and desserts and cheesecake and all them there baddies!
Didn't bother me one bit! Honest!

My mum sadly doesn't do understanding! She said today well what about the people who have to live around you? How am I supposed to invite you for dinner? I said well I am
Not going to eat things that make me poorly just to fit in with everyone! I'm quite happy and ill bring my own food if needs be x

Hi guys, had a very mild hypo today only 3.8 when I measured it, i didn't feel it come on with spins. I thought it was tiredness and my daughter noticed my speech was slow and I started acting 'that way' normal day of chicken salad, pkum, banana after work. Had to rush to parents eve so grabbed crisps, bloods no higher than 5.8 then home half hour put youngens to bed and hypo. Very mild but chicken salad wasn't bringing me out and I realised no carbs so i ate a small slice of my daughter pizza half hour later 4.1 but didn't feel better, I even started getting confused and palpitations and couldn't find any carbs and refused the sweets, due to the brain fog I'm sure, found mini chocolate buttons and had a few. It took an hour to feel better and am 5.9 and my head!!!!! My daughter (teenager) wasn't very helpful and said i don't help myself and act strange. I had to explain the brain doesn't function look it up. So i have been quite emotional. First hypo in a couple of months, surprised how much it affected me when it was so mild.

That's because you are beginning to become hypo aware!
Unfortunately you were rushing around, which heightened your blood levels, ate a banana and crisps!
So you panicked and that didn't help, you will learn how to deal with these things and how to relax yourself and slowly come back up with a few carbs.
No more carbs and eat low carb regularly, try and sleep later, as sleep is very good at getting back to normal.
You have to recognise the oncoming hypo by eating more regularly and try and stay away from those baddies, that are causing this!

Sounds like the things you are eating might make it worse? I wouldn't eat a banana or pizza slice even if unwell. I find meat or a small apple or some coconut oil makes me better. I am being very strict with myself at the moment though and get that you needed to get up again but if you have something that spikes you too much you will keep spiking and then dropping I think which will make you feel more poorly. I am a novice but I think that might be the problem? Sure Nosher and Brun will
Be able to help more than me x

Thanks @nosher I've been so good this week too, yes guess its that little bit of rushing, I went for a walk yesterday which was great as my energy levels have really picked up, I couldn't walk fast a month ago so vitD and eating low carb really have helped. Just over did it i guess and my body getting used to it. I'll test my blood straight after the banana or plum another time to see how many points it raises me. Lol i could've just eaten fruit. Funny how the brain doesn't function. Good thing i wasn't lower. My daughter after a while handed me an easter egg and told me to go to bed. I didnt eat it lol I'll try sleep now I'm out of it, not slept well this week. Still got a headache another hour later.

I sympathise, I know what it's like, it's defo not nice!
That's why I'm so reluctant to try more carbs!
You will get this and it is hard as the baddies are so handy, temptation is so demanding, and it's the carbs telling you to eat them!
See how you are tomorrow!
Have a good night!

Sorry boys you might want to close your ears!!

Ladies do you find your symptoms Are worse during menstruation? I've found I have had to eat a bit more

It's been asked that by my drs before. I haven't noticed it but I've only been measuring my blood a few months and before couldn't even figure out the trigger for the symptoms. its definitely worth looking at.

Good luck tomorrow wendolph. I find if I'm rushing around I have to keep snacking aka Nosher...... I buy snack size bits of cheddar and small apples to shove into my bag as a just in case. Brilliant that you felt able to walk I am a bit scared to walk as I can't work out how much food to put into my system to keep me going x

I only ate the pizza as I was feeling worse and wanted the carbs, it was a small peice tho.
I need to make a list of low carb foods. I work 4 hours so eat just before i go in and after. I need something to keep me going long enough but not spike me. Its a pain.
As its only 4 hours so i don't want a proper break, money wise plus don't want them to think i cant do the job. Only been doing it 2 months.

It's totally understandable if you are feeling rough. Maybe make some sweet sized fat bombs that you could pop in your mouth whilst working? You'd hAve to test them at home to see how long you could keep going for on them. Or maybe one of the 9 bars that everyone talks about?
