Hi all. I recently had a blood test to see if I was diabetic and received a letter from my GP asking me to make an appointment with his clinic to talk about my glucose management and to have a second blood test. As he didn't say it was urgent, I decided to wait until after my two week holiday in the USA (where I am now). Last night, after dinner, a friend who is both a nurse and a diabetic herself, took my glucose reading, and was shocked to find it 23 mmo/l. I feel ok but am scared now because I have read that this is dangerously high. What should I do?

Hi,

Personally if I had a reading of 23mmol I would phone the doctors. As your away in a foreign country this does make it more difficult. However I would recommend to get hold of your doctor as soon as you get home to see what they suggest.

Until you can get home to see your doctor I would recommend reducing the amount of Carbs that you eat and also avoid any obvious sugars, ie cakes biscuits, sugar in drinks etc.

Have a look around here and ask any questions.

Thanks Lenny
I am going to be very careful until I get home on Tuesday and will go straight to my Doctor. This site is a godsend for someone like me. Thanks again. :)
