Hi,

Ive been using the 50 shades of diabetes chart to tell if Im getting good/bad readings (I tend to average the mid 8's at the moment) but the chart only starts at 5.4 and I got a 5.1 reading the other day. So what Im hoping is can someone tell me when does a low reading stop being green and go amber/red?

thanks

you're T2, so unless you are on an oral that causes hypo, you're fine to get around 3.5
5.1 is a nice number and I hope your numbers continue the trend :)

Hi,

Im not on any meds.
thanks, I always feel pleased with myself when i get a good reading!

I understand that anything from 4,00 and above is considered normal. Without any medication that causes hypoglycemia even values in the high 3s are probably safe. Your liver should release glycogen to boost your levels soon enough if you do find yourself this low. If your not used to them glucose levels in the high threes and fours will probably feel quite uncomfortable though even if safe.

The '50 Shades' chart is to do with HbA1c - the top two lines show the HbA1c in mmol/mol and % and the bottom two lines show what your average blood glucose reading might have been to achieve that HbA1c
