nearly 3 months ago my highest reading was 33, it has slowly got lower, around 12 pre breakfast but during the day, has been up to around 23.
do you think i should see my gp?

Hi Ally, your readings have improved, so you are getting there, but haven't yet arrived!

When you test 2 hours after eating, do you then look at what you ate and either not eat it again, or try once more but with much smaller portions of the carb elements of the meal? This is what your meter is for. Record everything you eat and drink, and record your levels along side. Then look back and work out where you are going wrong. You should aim for a rise between the before meal reading and the 2 hours after reading of no more than about 2.5mmol/l and preferably a lot less.

Go back to your GP if you think he can help, but what can he do? He can give you more meds, but in the end, it is down to you and what you eat.

Of course you must see your GP or preferably someone more knowledgeable, but your readings are dangerously high and I can´t understand what you are waiting for. Not life threatening, I don't mean that, but bg at your level can cause harm in not too long time.

Hi Ally,

You are really trying hard and things are moving in the right direction..

Are you finding it difficult to keep track of what you are eating? I noticed the other day you posted that bananas send your levels up so you only eat one occasionally. I know it is not easy but the odd high carb food has a cumulative effect and at this stage in your journey it is best not to eat them.. Once you get the hang of it you will know when a small banana will not spike you, especially if you eat it as part of a meal.

Post a full day's food on here, including snacks, with the readings and we will see if we can help. There is a lot to take in and sometimes people get stressed with it all trying to find the best foods to eat and worrying about readings. The stress can raise your blood sugars too

The first thing is to get your BG within safe levels by diet and drugs
It seems you need more meds for now, till you see once your BG is under control and your diet is able to have more effect.
I don't think anyone would say BG in the 20 shouldn't have immediate treatment
