Hi @sandysan

Sorry you’re struggling. You might find the dietdoctor.com website helpful - full of recipes, meal plans and tips about low carb eating.

What sort of food do you like? The bacon and pork chops you mention are perfect!

For me low carb (I’m very low carb) means simple food with as few ingredients as possible - fresh meat, fish, eggs, cheese, dairy, butter, above ground vegetables. Tinned fish/meat also good.

There’s a great thread in the low carb section of the forum ‘What have you eaten today’ where you’ll get a lot of ideas and support. Low carb can be delicious (even indulgent) once you get the hang of it and think in terms of what you can eat. I’ll tag you in to the thread.

@sandysan grains and most root vegetables contain high levels of starch which your body turns into sugars. So anything made from grains like your porridge is likely a problem. I say likely because I think porridge is slowly digested and some can get away with it.
Breakfast, mix and match from eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, strawberries, Greek yoghurt, depending on how you react maybe apple. Might sound strange but I'll take a plastic container of cheddar and strawberries into the office for breakfast at my desk. So fry ups, omeletes, cold plates, etc.
Salads are good depending on what and how much dressing you use. Dietdoctor will recombine all these and more into recipe ideas.
Standard evening fair for me is meat (normally fatty pork) and above ground veg like cauliflower and broccoli.

It gets confusing when there are many drs and at least one well known site out there telling type 2’s to eat starchy carbs at every meal but make the carbs brown or whole meal. What this neglects to mention is that you still get all the glucose from those carbs regardless of what colour they are. They may digest a little slower and the blood rises a little less but the total is still the same.

The diet doctor site @Goonergal recommends is excellent at explaining it all clearly and has great food ideas too.

Lots of other websites for recipes out there too. Just use the term low carb or keto with whatever you fancy.
