I have had an irritating cough for some time but almost three weeks ago my blood sugar levels jumped from 6 to 13 which gave me cause for concern. The levels have been fluctuating since.

After a couple of weeks I saw my GP who said I had a slight chest infection and prescribed a weeks course of antibiotics. Four days ago I increased my insulin from 10 to 12 units and got good readings. They went down from 11.9 to 5.3, 4.8, 7 and today 8.4 so up.

Can anyone throw some light as to what is happening. I still have my cough. Yes I will get back in touch with the medics too!.

All I can tell you is that illness can ( and often does) raise you blood glucose levels. How's your cough now?

Sorry for the delay. I have just picked up your post notification email. Thanks and yes I still have a cough but maybe not as bad, but rest assured I don't smoke, nor indeed have I ever!

I should add perhaps that I am also being treated for a hyperactive thyroid and have another few months before I am cured. So the body is still not at optimum functioning yet!
