Hi Tio, Sues advice is spot on but it is all a bit confusing at first, try not to worry though as the more you find out about your diabetes the clearer it will become.

I would advise any newly diagnosed diabetic T1 or T2 to read as much about your condition as you can. A few books I read when first diagnosed which I found useful I have listed below, all can be bought or ordered through any good book shop or you can also buy them on line through eBay and Amazon etc.

In no particular order:

The New Glucose Revolution - What makes my blood sugar go up...and down - Dr Jennie Brand-Miller. Kaye Foster-Powell. David Mendoza.

The First Year - Type 2 Diabetes - Gretchen Becker

Type 2 Diabetes - in adults of all ages - Dr Ragnar Hanas & Dr Charles Fox

Blood Sugar 101 - What they dont tell you about diabetes - Jenny Ruhl

Diabetes for Dummies - Dr Alan L. Rubin & Dr Sarah Jarvis

There are many other books available but the books above are just some of the books I read that I found useful.
