Hi guys,
I just discovered this website today and figured it was a great place to get some help and advice. Was informed yesterday after 2 blood tests there is a strong chance I have diabetes. My doctor had long suspected I had health issues, as my dad was type 1, diagnosed at the exact same age as me and he unfortunately died from ketoacidosis 10 years ago. My mum's mum also had type 1, but this was not the cause of her death.
My questions I guess are, what sort of tests will I have to go through for them to ascertain what type I have? I was told I also have PCOS and, although my doc reckons the two aren't connected, my hormone level is off the scale and it looks like surgery is going to be the only option for this condition. Coupled with tests she ran for Coeliac's as well, which I don't know the results of.
I just feel like I've been left in limbo til I get a chance to speak with a diabetic nurse next week. I don't know if there's anything I should be doing, or avoiding eating. It's been a long time since I had to recall my dad's eating habits and stuff on the internet seems quite vast and varied. The tests she ran for Coeliac's is due to the fact when I eat white bread I'm feeling very uncomfortable, and I'm also tired ALL the time. This is the worst of all, as I study full-time and work part-time. Just feel constantly sluggish!
Sorry for the long intro post, but I'm obviously looking for help. I don't want to keep bothering my doctor but feeling awful sorry for myself
lol thanks for reading guys x
