Hi everyone! So was diagnosed just over two weeks ago as prediabetic. Diet on whole is pretty good, although do have sweet tooth, Basically vegetarian. Have since cut out all biscuits etc. Stopped eating white bread etc. Changed breakfast to fruit/porridge. Don’t smoke. Barely drink alcohol. Have a dog so walk couple of miles a day. Is there anything more I should be doing? Feeling somewhat overwhelmed with diagnosis. GP hasn’t given me any help. Feel absolutely shattered even when I get up on a morning. As day goes on feel bit better. Will this feeling go away?? Tried to get a GP appointment but Dr decided I didn’t need appointment & got pharmacist to ring me and give me advice regarding my diet.
At no point have I been told to test levels but I see here that people do

Many thanks!

Welcome, and as you are pre-diabetic probably not much change is needed.

Cutting out biscuits, cakes, sugars (stuff ending in 'ose') might be all you need to do e.g. not feeding that sweet tooth.

Hopefully your next HbA1c will be lower than the diagnosis one.

However - brown bread is little better than white from a carbohydrate point of view, and many fruits are not great. Berries of all types tend to be the best.
