Hi all,
I have type 1 diabetes and have had it for 14 years. I’m not really sure what to do and I’m really struggling at the moment. Since yesterday my blood sugar has been constantly running low even though I’m eating and drinking sugary drinks to keep it up. For example, last night it dropped to 3.3 and I panicked because I had eaten dinner and it still ran low. I had practically a whole can of coke and cereal and after around half an hour it went up to 9.5 so I assumed it was going to go high. I gave 3 units of novo rapid because normally eating that much would send it very high. After 2 hours it dropped again to 2.4, I repeated the same had coke and cereal and it went to 8.8, that was at 3am and by 10 this morning it was low again. I’m just not sure what to do it’s as if I’m very sensitive to the insulin and it’s acting very quickly. Nothing has changed, I’m not doing any extra exercise or anything like that. Does anyone have any ideas? It’s been quite scary and I feel awful with being low all the time and my stomach feels sick with everything I’ve had to eat.

Hi & hello,

Firstly; what insulin regime do you do? Basal/ bolus (MDI.) or pump?
Is your prescribed insulin new out of he fridge? Or new from the chemists.?

Let's see what we can help you out with...

I have a couple of ideas, but don't wish to be presumptuous or so bold, without certain info..
