soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I have changed the way I express myself, because I got jumped on once too often. Now I say I eat "reduced" carbs. I don't specify how reduced. In fact it is very low, but I don't weigh food, just watch what I eat.

I do the same, but I am sticking with the term 'low carb', compared to what I was eating it is bloody low LOL

I don't want to be 'forced' into changing for the sake of some people who are just too precious. It seems ironic that us low carbers are demonised as bullies, when I feel distinctly 'got at' recently LOL

That's the wording I choose too, hana.....'reduced' carbs. The wording is apt and perfectly fits my choice of diet. I shall be describing myself as a reduced-carber to my medical team too, as I'm confident it will 'cause less raised eye-brows and grief.
If our politicians can be 'choosy' with their wording, I don't see why we can't. Talking of which, hubby saw a great sign in a car the other day. It read 'Come back Guy Fawkes. Your country needs you!' Brilliant.

I tend to do the same Hana. Last time it was mentioned I just said that I have reduced the amount of carbs as it says to do in the BNF!! But didn't say by how much. They seemed perfectly happy with that so why upset the apple cart. Anything for a quiet life!!

Although I think it may easier, in the short term, for me to use the term 'reduced carbs', it doesn't really help the long term cause. If the health teams can attribute my (fantastic, dare I say) improvements to their advice and not because I've actually gone a lot further down the low carb route then how are things going to change? Don't get me wrong I'm not a tubthumper, I'm not particularly political or controversial, but if anyone asks me what I'm doing I tell them, if they don't approve then I couldn't care less frankly. Things aren't going to change if we're willing to cow tow to the opinion of others despite what the facts of our personal experience indicate. That's giving in to bullying, isn't it?

I'm ashamed to admit it, but you're absolutely right Doczoc.

Really if you look at the ever increasing mountain of evidence the distinction becomes one of "appropriate carbs" vs. "excessive carbs"
