Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me? I am a woman with type 2 diabetes and I have lost all my sex drive and it is causing problems in my marriage. I know men can take viagra, is there anything out there for women.

There have been trials of testosterone patches for women which have shown a limited improvement in sexual experiences ie one more a month. Whether your doctor will be able to prescribe it is another issue.

Hi

A number of things can cause this sort of loss of sexdrive, emotional aspects as well as physical.

How long since you have been diagnosed as type 2, this can cause havoc with your emotions
Has there been any probs at home recently, family probs, financial all cause stress which effects ur libido.
Are you feeling down in the dumps, this can effect greatly are you takin tablets for depression this is a well known side effect.
How about your age, menopausal symptoms doesn't help either.
Or you might be suffering from being complacement with each other, stuck in a rut, lacking excitement.

Before resulting in putting extra hormones in your body see if you can help get the excitement back into your relationship. Try banning sex for a few weeks and rediscover eachother with touch, massage etc, get rid of the kids for the night, act like teenagers play games you can get some great tips from the internet, (cant go into it here or admin will ban me!!!)

what helps with me is going away for the night to a hotel, the build up before arriving and then waiting for him to meet me there is great, having dinner, setting the mood but also having no expectations but most importantly have fun.

Hope this helps

In our house everything returned to normal when blood glucose levels returned to near non-diabetic levels.

Hi,
I suffer with the same problem, my husband was convinced that I didn't fancy him any more. We talked it through, and he understands now that i can't help the way that I feel. I agree that outside influences do make it worse. We try to get away from every day life at least 2 or three times a year , we relax and if it happens then great if not we will still have enjoyed ourselves. hope all goes well.

Please look at this forum thread; I have responded with my experiences and how the management of them has given me a new lease of life. I hope thishelps you. diabetes 'Sexual problems with type 2'
