Reducing Gliclazide dose

Hi,

I've been advised in the past by the specialists to try to reduce / eliminate the Gliclazide medication (A1C is in the 30's) but I am I the lowest dose (40mg).

Has anyone tried cutting the Gliclazide to reduce the dose?

Yes, I was told to do this by my consultant and my pharmacist. The 40mg tabs are splitable and are even scored for the purpose, as i recall.

I tried halving the dose ...from 2x 40mg twice daily to 1x40mg twice daily, my BG went up by 1.0 max.I'm now back on the prescribed dose and waiting to see my DN/doctor to hear their thoughts on reducing the dose permanently.
I have also ditched the statins which has dropped my fasting BG to around 4.3 to 4.5.
