Redundant

Sorry to read your news. Change is always hard. Given you skill set, and your diabetes, how about trying to combine the two and see if you can help teach realistic nutritional courses for diabetics? Good luck, and try to have a good Easter.

@Gaz-M, I thought Natalie's suggestion about training young chefs was an excellent suggestion, see if any local colleges are recruiting.
 
Sorry to hear of your redundancy. I would recommend looking into further education. The government wants us to work longer before we retire so a change of career is something to consider. Here in Scotland we can get funding for living expenses, ok we have to pay it back, but the upper age limit has been increased.
I did a year at college then transferred to university. Had to suspend my studies for a year due to health issues but plan to go back into third year of my degree course in September. I would say, go for it!
