Thank you for the quick response. I eat lots of fruit and veg. I don't eat white bread, white rice or white anything, only brown and whole grain. No oily takeouts.I think that worry is too strong a word. You used to have to have two readings of over 7 to be diagnosed as diabetic but, personally, I have little faith in fasting readings due to the liver dumping sugar into the bloodstream if you haven't eaten for a long time.
Although you say you eat healthily there is no such definition and it may be that some small adjustment to your diet would be good for you as it might be for non diabetics.
EDIT: I remember a poster once claiming that he ate healthily but his diet consisted mainly of pizza and cheesecake.
I was told that fasting is the best time to do the test by the pharmacist. It's what I've read online as well
Type 1 doesn't always develop quickly. I had symptoms for quite a while prior to diagnosis (to be honest months and months) but when I did my fasting bgl was 23. I put most of my symptoms down to stress initially. I was on the verge of dka when I went to the hospital 2 days later. Had I waited longer to see another GP things would have gotten a lot worse very quickly.@xGreenx
Your numbers sound good to me. Is there such a thing as Pre Type 1 ? Type 1 tends to develop quite quickly and can strike at any age. Try eating a sticky toffee pudding with custard or something like that; then test two hours after eating to see what result you get.

A lot of people also talk about LADA which comes on slowly and is often misdiagnosed as type 2. I think if I had been tested correctly when my symptoms first appeared (my GP ignored my concerns so I figured eh stress) I may have been able to keep the honeymoon period for longer. So I guess there is no pre type 1 but people may be able to enjoy the honeymoon period for longer if it's caught early and treated appropriately.
