Regarding ED in Young T1D's

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all doing great.

I'm a 23 year-old male dealing with T1D for roughly 5 years now. My management of my diabetes would be considered OK by average standards since my HbA1C averages between 7.4 and 8.0. However, I started having an unpleasant issue that started about a year ago. My erections aren't nearly as firm as they use to be, which is so frustrating for obvious reasons including my young age of 23!

What I want to ask is that if the problem is diabetes induced, would the problem be eased if I manage my diabetes better and get low HbA1C readings, or is the damage permanent and the only way is drugs like Viagra?

Many Thanks!

Hi @Gravitaz, it's probably worth while seeing your GP. It's possible that your problem may not be diabetes related, given you've only been diagnosed for five years.

It's worth getting it checked so that either it is shown that there's nothing wrong or that there's a solution. Either way, at least you know and can deal with whatever is thrown up.
