Is it that pain that in a strange way feels satisfyingly good? After 18 weeks of pure strength based workouts i had the first day of my mixed workout which i'll be doing for the next 20 weeks. Today was hypertrophy day (higher reps than i'm used to now) and i'm always amazed as to how frickin' painful it is to do high reps again.
What constitutes high reps if you don't mind me asking?
A 6.5km bike ride to a pub, a pint of local ale, some ham and eggs, a small glass of Merlot, a huge plate of cheese, a listen to some live jazz and a 3.5km bike ride (on byways, not on the road!) home.
Good Sunday exercise!
@qe5rt . That's really interesting. Along similar lines I train 5×5 sets heavy on strictly compounds. I usually stick with it for 8/10 weeks then change. On occasion I've decided to drop the weights and up the reps as a new routine I find that I really feel it around 8 reps and really have to work hard to get to 12 reps.
Always amazes me how our bodies adapt to what we ask of them.
Wow! I do parkrun frequently, yet to get back at 'events' And you only took off your hat? I couldnt run in all that, still in shorts and singlet!Morning folks! Because it's December I have upped my maximum exercise target - instead of 12-20 lengths 3-5 times a week, I'm aiming for 24-30 lengths 3-5 times a week, and I'm 'allowing' myself up to two runs per week instead of one. I'd been at 'maximum' target of 20 lengths per day for pretty much all of November, so I'd been working on my speed and my swimming style rather than upping my lengths, so I hadn't thought that going from 20 to 24 lengths would be that much of a 'thing'.
But it is!!! Still, I managed 25 on Thursday, and 24 on Friday, yesterday and today.
And LOOK what I did on SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO proud. This is my 'sprint finish' - and you can see my pump, because I was using the pump belt to carry the Santa hat which was such a pain in the a*** to run in, and it got a bit tangled up. Did I care? NO! And I've got a MEDAL! Okay, so it was a local 5k/10k (I just did the one loop, so 5k), but it was my first 'event' run, and I absolutely loved it. As you can probably tell from the picture....
Love Snapsy
