I am not diabetic YET!!!! HOWEVER HAVE A FAMILY HISTORY OF DIABETES. Also very overweight....... had Breast Cancer four years ago,
have been on Tamoxefin since ( I feel that has not helped my weight gain (although Oncologist says no) . What lifestyle changes and diet should I be following so I do not get diabetes. I am very apathetic and feel I need a kick up the back -side at times. To be honest chemo and rads where hell and I was very ill and my confidence was robbed.
Age 66 female have lots of hobbies, crafting ,sewing, scrapbooking ,geneaolgy and am an active member of U3A . The only exercise I get is an occasional walk.

Hi Bobbie

You certainly have been through a lot. I hope that the remainder of your treatment goes well.

As to future diabetes, I think that you have already identified two of the most important things that may help - diet and exercise. Of course, they may not only help with trying to avoid diabetes but with cardiac health as well. If I were you I would have a chat to your oncologist, or one of his staff, to run any exercise and diet changes past him in the light of your ongoing treatment.

Take care and keep well
