I did my first saline set change today and it went ok. What I wasn't expecting was how difficult it was to get the old one out

I have sent away for some Lift Plus spray but wondered what other tips/advice your could suggest. I am using Inset II.

The way I did it was painstakingly peel up the sticky bit all around and try to rip it off. Still took ages though and was a bit sore.

What kind of infusion set were you using? I am using Accuchek Flexi link, and usually it is not too bad...takes seconds, and not painful at all. I have noticed though that it is painful if I try and remove it, soon after putting it in!

I am not sure if you are Mr Mushypeabrain or Miss MushyPeabrain, but I have heard that that some men have to shave, or removing teh infusion set can be very painful!

 I am Mrs!! There is a man in my new starter pump group who was complaining about the hair on stomach thing - ouch!

I think I am going to find it's just me. Injections hurt me, blood tests hurt me, so this will probably be the same

I'm using the Animas Inset II but hoping to get samples of others to try.

Hi Mrs MPB

By the time you need to use another set, you will be able to remove the old one fairly easily using Lift Plus. Just give old set a quick spray, wait a few seconds to penetrate and then remove. Set should come off without too much discomfort. Baby oil on end of cottonbud can also be used too.

Sometimes due to manufacture error you will find that the introducer needle cover does not come off very easily and by pulling on the cover makes the set come apart. If this starts to happen to you, pull the needle cover off first by pressing down with your thumb on the adhesive backing (this will prevent the set from coming away from the spring loader). Once the needle cover is off, then remove the adhesive backing and **** the spring.
