Inflammation ( redness and local swelling: such as when you get an insect bite, or a scald from hot water for example) can also occur over time inside the body, and is thought by many authorities to be a significant cause of heart and blood-vessel disease... and other disease processes.

Those same authorities are increasingly suggesting that omega 6 fatty acids -- such as found in higher than normal amounts in modern vegetable oils, corn/maize and soy-fed beef or chicken and farmed fish -- may be a contributor to this chronic inflammation.

Meantime omega 3 fatty acids are nowadays found in smaller amounts in the modern diet but seem to play a role in protecting the body from the ill-effects of omega 6.

In natural foods the omega 3s and 6s tend to be balanced.

Substances found in red-wine are now thought to spare the omega 3 fatty acids from being broken down or oxidised... this would help to restore some of the balance.

So yes this is good news :D Cheers!
