Could a severe retinal bleed turn into a retinal detachment if one isn't careful ?/

Retinal bleeds don't turn into retinal detachments but a retinal detachment may sometimes cause retinal bleeds although the classic symptoms are flashing lights and sometimes a "curtain" in the vision. Although proliferative diabetic retinopathy increases the risk of retinal detachment, vitrectomy and laser photocoagulation decrease the risk.
